It doesn’t have to be sunny to be hot!  Humid cloudy days can be just as dangerous for pets if they don’t have access to water and cool areas, which in turn can result in heatstroke.

What are the signs of heatstroke?  They can include:

  • Heavy panting (or sudden stopping of panting)
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Lack of coordination
  • Weakness or muscle tremors
  • Convulsions or vomiting

If heat stroke is suspected prompt veterinary medical attention is vital. In the meantime, wet the fur immediately with lukewarm to cool water, not cold water. Bring the pet into the shade and offer drinking water.

If your pet is showing signs of heatstroke please call one of our veterinary clinic right away!
