Fall Fun for Dogs and Families in Toronto, Ontario CanadaAutumn is a great time of year for pets. There’s Halloween and Thanksgiving, brightly colored leaves, gourds and mums, and that crispness in the air. Need ideas on how to celebrate this lovely season with your pup?

Here are some ways you and your dog can share autumnal bliss!

1. Take a fall nature walk.
There couldn’t be a better time of year for walking with your dog. Find a nice path, grab a water bottle (and some for your furry friend) and go. Don’t forget your camera.

2. A cool swim at the beach.
The weather and water will be a bit cooler this time of year, you don’t need to worry so much about your dog getting overheated or dehydrated at the beach. Bring your dog for a Fall swim to the Beaches or other Toronto Waterfront or lake. If you have a list of suggestions for Dog Friendly Swimming please email us

3. Play in the leaves.

Have your pet, dog or cat (maybe a kitten), “help” rake. Toss leaves playfully on your pet or make piles and let your pet mess it all up. It might not be the most efficient way to clean up your yard, but it sure is fun.

4. Try a favorite fall food: pumpkin.
Believe it or not, canned pumpkin is really good for dogs. It’s packed with healthy vitamins and is filling without being fattening. Add a spoonful to your pup’s dinner for a treat. You can also try this with your cat, but most likely they will turn up their nose and walk away, cats are so fussy!

5. Snuggle up in a fuzzy blanket.
When it’s time for a break, curl up beside your dog or and wrap yourselves in a cozy blanket. An ear rub and a back scratch—just enjoy the comfort of relaxing together. This is best executed after the nature walk, playing in the leaves, or playing with a Fall inspired toy.

6. Wear a costume.
Many pets love to wear a costume. Halloween is just around the corner so get into the groove a bit early this year and dress your pet up for a few weeks before to get lots of smiles from strangers. Take lots of pictures too because we will post them for you if you email them to us at
